USA Hockey Player Safety Message
Dear AAHA Hockey Community –
I am happy to return for the 2024-2025 season as your AAHA Player Safety Coordinator. A few reminders for our community as we head into our season:
- Neck laceration protectors are now mandatory for all youth, girls, high school, and junior hockey players, as well as on-ice officials under the age of 18. Penalties are like any other equipment violation. For this season, there is no certification requirement for a neck laceration protector but the equipment worn must be designed for that purpose with cut resistant material. Please refer to rule 304 parts G-H and rule 501 part C for more information.
- I would like to thank those who assisted in the concussion reporting program last year. Please continue to ensure your team managers fill out and return a completed USA Hockey Concussion management Return to Play Form for any player that is removed from a game or practice due to head injury. These forms with directions can be found under “Player Forms” on the district website. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me for guidance.
For any other needs or questions regarding the health and safety of our hockey community, please contact me at kward@aahahockey.org
Have a safe and healthy season!
